Cisco has released a workaround to allow Windows 7 operating systems onto the network until the official release of a Cisco NAC Agent that supports Windows 7 (to be released during the week of November 23). As soon as the new NAC Agent is released, all Windows users, including Windows 7, will use the agent to log in and authenticate. For now, Windows 7 users may obtain network access by logging in through web authentication.
Please note: users will be entirely responsible for installing antivirus/antispyware on their own. Until supported by the Cisco NAC Agent, NO support will be available for Windows 7 users at the ResNet Service Desk for infections or problems caused by spyware/viruses. None, zero, nothing. Use is completely at your own risk. In the event of an infection/network outage cause by an infected computer, you and your computer will be denied access to the network. Please use safe network practices.
Process: ResNet highly recommends the use of Internet Explorer for web authentication. If you really want to use another web browser to log in, be sure to install Java before attempting to get online. DO NOT install the Agent if prompted, it will not work. ResNet will not provide any support for broken/corrupted operating systems or browsers.
- Internet Explorer: Install the ResNet Certificate Authority. Open the browser, and look for the security warning at the top of the page (yellow bar along the top), and be sure to install the Active X control. After installation, log in using your MyCalPoly username and password (without "@calpoly.edu").
- Other browsers: Install the ResNet Certificate Authority. You must install Java before attempting to gain network access. Once Java is installed, open the browser, and watch for the Java security warning, and be sure to always allow the applet to run. After installation, log in using your MyCalPoly username and password (without "@calpoly.edu").
