ResNet aims to provide access to educational resources on the web by maintaining a reliable internet connection to all students living in the Residence Halls.

On a daily basis a ResTech performs the following responsibilities and duties:

• Assisting 3,900 on-campus residents with technology support needs including virus defense, spyware defense, and hardware/software installation of network cards
• Repairing and maintaining network infrastructure such as routers, switches, and wiring
• Using network tools such as Cisco Clean Access Manager, Cisco View, and Packet Shaper to regulate limited internet resources
• Making and using help desk tickets
• Answering phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
• Helping users with their technical problems
• Using internal Wikis to create documentation on any fix or procedure on the job

Minimum Requirements:
ResNet, Housing, and Residential Life requires all employees to be students at Cal Polytechnic University. All applicants must have a cumulative higher education GPA of 2.0 or greater. Applicants must be able to respect the privacy of ResNet clients and keep sensitive California State information confidential. Students must be able to lift and carry objects of moderate weight. Students must also have the willingness and desire to work as a team to perform a variety of tasks.

Secondary Knowledge:
No previous experience or knowledge of computers is required. All required training will be provided on the job.
